RICHMOND DALE, Ohio

Authorities have recovered a body from a southern Ohio river where searchers have been looking for a 20-year-old Ross County woman who has been missing for about a week.

The identity of the body found in the Scioto River on Friday has not been released.

Ross County Coroner John Gabis confirmed the body was a woman. He says an autopsy will be performed today.

Investigators in the area have been looking for Shasta Himelrick. Surveillance video showed her walking into a gas station early Dec. 26 in rural Richmond Dale, roughly 50 miles south of Columbus in Ross County. Later that morning, the vehicle she’d been driving was found abandoned, with no gas and a dead battery near a bridge along the Scioto River.
