Warren woman assaulted on New Year's Day

WARREN — Police are investigating a New Year’s Day assault on a 34-year-old Front Street Southwest woman that resulted in her having a fracture around her eye, which was swollen shut and other bruising on her face and neck.

The woman told police her boyfriend punched her in the face while they were driving on Highland Avenue near Front Street at 2:50 a.m. Thursday

The woman said the man took her cellphone so she couldn’t call anyone. He took her to his mother’s house. She later went to her own mother’s house, where she was given her phone back.

From there, she was taken to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital by ambulance. Her neck also had numerous bruises and hand prints, and she had a small cut on one eyelid, police said.
