Ohio State Bar Association wins bet with Alabama State Bar
COLUMBUS — The Ohio State Bar Association has won its bet with the Alabama State Bar Association on the heels of the Ohio State Buckeyes upset defeat of Alabama in the Sugar Bowl.
Richard Raleigh, president of the Alabama Bar, challenged the OSBA, saying he’d offer treats from his home state and a charitable contribution if OSU beat the Crimson Tide.
“We know he was excited to have a taste of our chocolate and peanut butter buckeyes and Jeni’s ice cream,” said OSBA President Martin E. Mohler. “What he didn’t count on was our hunger for Alabama barbecue from Dreamland in Tuscaloosa, some Conecuh sausage, and, of course, stone ground grits.”
So, Raleigh will be expected to send along the Alabama culinary package, as well as a contribution to Mohler’s favorite charity, The William K. Weisenberg Fund for Civics Education at the Ohio State Bar Foundation.
“And to demonstrate the OSBA's appreciation and respect for the good works of Alabama lawyers, the OSBA will be making a matching contribution to the charity of President Raleigh's choice. That way, everyone wins,” Mohler said.
