Liberty officials continue watch over weak finances
LIBERTY
Liberty Township’s general fund is low and the fire department’s budget remains a concern, but the police budget is still top priority, the fiscal officer says.
Fiscal Officer Steve Shelton said recently there was $8,000 in the general fund, which typically has a balance of $20,000 to $30,000.
Salaries that are paid from the fund, those of the administrator, the trustees, the zoning inspector and Shelton’s, have been paid. The fund is replenished from hotel taxes and local government services, he said.
The township was also expecting money from the state — $10,000, he said.
