CVMS choirs perform holiday concert

Canfield Village Middle School choirs presented “A Winter Concert” with the seventh- and eighth-grade choirs performing at the Canfield High School auditorium Dec. 17. The CVMS Cardinal Chorale also performed. The CVMS choirs were under the direction of Stephanie Summers and accompanied by Jodine Pilmer on the piano.
The Cardinal Chorale, comprised of seventh- and eighth-grade students, opened the show with “Caroling Caroling” by Burt and Hutson, arranged by Greg Gilpin and then sang “Hanukkah, Hanukkah” by Dave and Jean Perry.
The seventh-grade choir then took the stage to sing four songs, including, “Hodie Alleluia” by Mary Lynn Lightfoot, “Grown Up Christmas List” by Foster and Thompson Jenner, arranged by Teena Chinn, “Let It Go” by Anderson-Lopez and Lopez, arranged by Mac Huff, with Abigail Palmer and Sydney Kinkade singing solos, and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” by Johnny Marks, arranged by Mac Huff.
Seventh-grade narrators included, Layali Kusuni, Andrew Crans, Andrea Klempay, Ethan Schenker and Zoe Guzman.
The eighth-grade choir performed their portion of the show by singing “Sing Gloria” by Becky Slagle Mayo, with Andrew Murphy on the shakers, Fletcher Christie on the claves and Chance Merlin on the bongos, “God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen” a traditional English carol arranged by Donald Moore, “Do You Want to Build a Snowman” by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez and finished their performance with “We Need a Little Christmas” by Jerry Herman, arranged by Anita Kerr.
Eighth-grade narrators included, Dominic DeRamo, Katherine Roman, Tyler Stein, Andrew Kern and Emily Duncko.
“Thank you parents, grandparents, friends and families for coming to our concert this evening. Especially to the parents for getting the students here and ready to go. I know it is hard during the holiday season, so we really appreciate your support. Thank you and have a happy holiday season,” said Summers as she closed the show.
