Coroner IDs 2 killed when vehicle flips near Dayton
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Authorities have identified the driver and passenger who were killed when their vehicle flipped into a yard and hit a tree after traveling at speeds that police say were nearing 100 mph.
The Montgomery County coroner’s office says the driver killed in the crash Thursday was 30-year-old Frederick Bailey, of Dayton, and his passenger was 26-year-old Tasha Thomas, of Fairborn.
WDTN-TV reports the crash happened Thursday afternoon in Dayton in an area where the speed limit is 35 mph.
Police say the driver and his passenger were thrown from the vehicle.
Sgt. Creigee Coleman says it’s a reminder to other drivers to respect the speed limit, drive cautiously and keep others’ safety in mind.
