No. 2 Duke 84, Wofford 55

DURHAM, N.C.

Freshman center Jahlil Okafor scored 24 points for Duke. Justise Winslow added 16 points and Quinn Cook had 15 for the Blue Devils (12-0). They shot nearly 56 percent — 71 percent in the second half — and broke open a tight game by outscoring Wofford 43-21 in the final 20 minutes, then turned it into a full-on rout by scoring the final 13 points. Okafor was 11 of 13 from the field while reaching the 20-point mark for the fifth time in seven games. Karl Cochran had 13 points on 5-of-17 shooting to lead the Terriers (9-4).

No. 4 Wisconsin 89, Penn State 72

MADISON, WIS.

Frank Kaminsky had 18 points and 14 rebounds, Nigel Hayes scored 21 points and Wisconsin shot a blistering 63 percent from the field. The Badgers (13-1) won their sixth straight with Kaminsky leading a balanced attack. The preseason All-American had secured his sixth double-double of the season by midway through the second half with Wisconsin comfortably ahead by double digits. D.J. Newbill scored 29 points for Penn State (12-2), which had its 10-game winning streak snapped.

No. 6 Villanova 67, Butler 55

VILLANOVA, PA.

Ryan Arcidiacono scored 15 points and JayVaughn Pinkston had 13 to help Villanova match the best start in program history. The Wildcats are 13-0 (1-0 Big East) for the first time since the 1937-38 season. That team lost for the first time in its 14th game. Daniel Ochefu had 10 points and nine rebounds for Villanova, and Kris Jenkins scored 11. Alex Barlow and Andrew Chrabascz both scored 12 points for Butler (10-4, 0-1). The Big East-favorite Wildcats opened an 11-point lead in the first half and then built a second double-digit lead after the Bulldogs pulled within four at halftime.

No. 9 Iowa State 83, MVSU 33

AMES, IOWA

Naz Long made seven 3-pointers and scored a season-high 24 points as Iowa State cruised. Jameel McKay added 10 points and six rebounds for the Cyclones (10-1), who shot 51 percent from the field to help Fred Hoiberg earn his 100th career win faster than any previous Iowa State coach. Iowa State used a 13-0 run to build a 23-9 lead 9 minutes into the game and carried a 47-18 advantage into halftime. Bryce Dejean-Jones had eight points, six assists and five rebounds for the Cyclones, who held the Delta Devils (1-12) to 24.1 percent shooting in their sixth consecutive defeat.

Seton Hall 78, No. 15 St. John’s 67

NEWARK, N.J.

Sterling Gibbs had 25 points and eight assists to lead Seton Hall over St. John’s in the Big East opener for both teams. Jaren Sina added 14 points for the Pirates (11-2, 1-0) in their first victory over a ranked opponent since stunning Villanova in the conference tournament last March. Freshman forward Angel Delgado added 13 points and 12 rebounds for Seton Hall, and senior forward Brandon Mobley had 13 points with 10 boards.

D’Angelo Harrison paced St. John’s with 25 points before fouling out.

No. 16 Wichita State 66, Drake 58

DES MOINES, IOWA

Ron Baker scored 23 points, including 13 straight down the stretch, and Wichita State opened league play with a hard-fought win over Drake. Jacob Enevold had 12 points with 15 rebounds for Drake (3-10).

No. 18 Oklahoma 61, George Mason 43

NORMAN, OKLA.

Buddy Hield scored all but two of his 17 points in the first half, and Oklahoma shut down George Mason.
