Girard restaurant agrees to remain closed until fire code violations are corrected

WARREN

Girard Wok, a restaurant at 44 W. Liberty St., will remain closed, and its kitchen shall not be used until it has corrected fire-code violations, according to a Trumbull County Common Pleas Court judge’s order.

Judge Peter Kontos earlier granted a temporary restraining order through Monday that said the restaurant should remain closed and had set a preliminary-injunction hearing for Monday.

But Monday’s hearing was canceled because the city of Girard and the restaurant owners agreed to keep it closed until the grease accumulation in the duct work and hood fans is removed and testing is complete on the restaurant’s fire-suppression system.

The work was not complete as of Monday, the judgment entry said, adding that the restaurant can reopen when the violations are corrected.

The city filed a complaint with the court Dec. 1, saying the restaurant failed to correct the violations after being notified of them Sept. 22 and being cited Oct. 25.
