WOODCARVERS WORKSHOP

What: Woodcarving enthusiasts of all skill levels invited to meet woodcarver Don Danford in Huston-Brumbaugh Visitors Center. Must be at least 18 to participate.

BIRD COUNTING

When: Jan. 15, 10 to 11:30 a.m.

What: Discover the world of citizen science through bird feeding. In addition to learning how to identify and count birds in the bird observatory, you’ll also construct a basic bird feeder to take home. Where: Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center, 16146 Daniel St. NE, Minerva. Program takes place indoors.

Winter Sunshine

What: Have fun learning all about oranges, lemons, and limes – the sunshine plants. Make a citrus craft and have sunny snacks.

Garden Design Theory

When: Jan. 17, 10 a.m. to noon.

What: Class will answer the question of “where do I even begin in designing an ornamental garden?” Bridget Beck, garden designer, will cover basic design elements found in all art and design including concepts of order, unity and rhythm. This class is one part lecture on design theory and one part workshop in applying these theories when choosing perennials for your garden.
