POLICE CALLS

A summary of criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Feb. 23

Identity fraud: A Struthers Road man found out his credit-card numbers and identity had been compromised.

Feb. 24

Identity fraud: A Locust Lane man discovered that after filing his 2014 income taxes online, someone had used his Social Security number on another return that was filed with the Internal Revenue Service.

BOARDMAN

Feb. 20

Arrest: Police responded to a vehicular crash near Doral Drive, where they took into custody 20-year-old Stephen A. Rivers of Boardman Boulevard, Boardman. He was wanted on a probation-violation charge from Trumbull County.

Theft: Two Campbell boys, 12 and 13, were accused of stealing two $24 knit caps and a basketball jersey from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A woman stole a $75 beef tenderloin item from Sam’s Club, 6361 South Ave.

Harassment: A worker for a South Avenue big-box store reported getting unwanted text and Facebook messages.

Theft: Hollie A. Gjoen, 30, of Rexford Road, Youngstown, was charged with stealing two cold-coffee drinks and a magazine from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Drugs: Alicia D. Robinson, 27, of Logan Way, Hubbard, surrendered on a felony drug-abuse charge. During a traffic stop Feb. 7 near East Midlothian Boulevard, a pill was found in the vehicle, a report said.

Theft: Joshua T. Mikan, 27, and 43-year-old James H. Croft faced theft charges. The two Barberton men were accused of stealing about $247 worth of merchandise from Walmart.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s rear window was damaged at a business in the 400 block of McClurg Road.

Theft: A man in his 20s wearing blue jeans took $320 worth of DVDs from Walmart.

Theft: Police charged Corey J. Shrout, 39, of Bane Street, and Robert E. Daniels, 57, of Milton Street after alleging the two Warren men had stolen two car batteries and $353 worth of electronics items from Walmart.

Employee theft: An official with the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall alleged a worker on three occasions had completed customer returns and improperly issued himself duplicate gift cards that totaled $118.

Theft: Brittany L. Hissom-Neely of Trentvale Street, East Liverpool, was charged after authorities alleged the 20-year-old woman had taken roughly $253 worth of clothing and earrings from Dillard’s in Southern Park Mall.

Feb. 21

Theft: Michael G. Mrosko, 37, of Grandview Avenue, Struthers, was charged in the theft of $33 worth of merchandise from Walmart.

Citation: A traffic stop near Western Reserve Road resulted in a citation charging 26-year-old Jillian Kinnick of Loch Heath Lane, Youngstown, with operating a vehicle impaired. Kinnick’s blood-alcohol level was 0.134, a report showed.

Harassment: An Old Oxford Lane man said a former employee has sent him several unwanted text messages.

Citation: Police cited 34-year-old Andrew Rotunno of Winchester Avenue, Youngstown, on charges of operating a vehicle impaired and failure to control a motor vehicle after responding to a call pertaining to a car that had slid off the road near Eisenhower Drive.

Feb. 22

Assaults: A Hillman Way woman and her boyfriend each reported having been assaulted by the other during an altercation.

Theft: Two packs of candy were removed from a Shell gas station, 950 Boardman-Poland Road.

Assault/threats: A Walmart official told authorities an irate man had shoved an employee after trying to return a windshield-wiper blade without a receipt. Also, he reportedly threatened to use two bombs to blow up the store, a police report stated.

Domestic violence: Andree D. West, 30, of Applecrest Court, Boardman, was charged with the crime after his teenage daughter alleged West struck her face and grabbed her jaw after having been angered about her use of a phone application.

Drugs: Alliance police relinquished custody of 36-year-old Timothy A. Broache, who faced a felony charge of deception to obtain dangerous drugs. The Alliance man was accused of passing a forged prescription Jan. 16 at CVS Pharmacy, 7230 Market St., to obtain 150 Hydrocodone pills, which are opioids commonly used to treat moderate to severe pain.

Feb. 23

Theft: An employee with a Boardman-Poland Road pizzeria reported a $900 diamond ring stolen while at work.

Possible identity fraud: A Sigle Lane man noticed that a name other than his wife’s appeared on an income-tax form.

Stolen property: Authorities picked up 43-year-old Robert J. Leslie at the Lawrence County jail on a felony charge of receiving stolen property. Leslie, of Pulaski Road, New Castle, Pa., was accused of stealing a woman’s purse Jan. 23 while she was at a Market Street funeral home.

Robbery: Authorities arrested 26-year-old G. Shannon McColor Jr. of Woodcrest Avenue, Youngstown, who was charged with aggravated robbery in connection with a Jan. 9 robbery at Huntington Bank, 3960 South Ave.

Theft: Maeghan C. McNamara, 27, of Montgomery Drive, Canfield, was charged with stealing a $10 cellphone charger from Walmart.

Theft: A woman noticed her purse missing while shopping at a Boardman-Canfield Road grocery store.

Feb. 24

Arrest: While responding to a possible car break-in on Becky Court, authorities charged 21-year-old Damond E. Waller of Becky Court, Boardman, with making a false alarm. Waller, who also was wanted on a Lawrence County, Pa., warrant, fabricated a story in which he claimed his car had been stolen, police said.

Theft: A Youngstown woman reported her purse stolen while at a Boardman-Canfield Road pet store.

Theft: A woman at a Boardman-Canfield Road business discovered a satchel bag containing a driver’s license, a passport and other items missing.

Vandalism: A tenant at a Market Street motel reportedly damaged a TV/DVD unit, burned a bed spread and sheets and broke a picture frame. Damage was estimated at $391.

Theft: Youngstown police handed Teanisha S. Mitchell of Hilton Avenue, Youngstown, to township authorities. The 35-year-old Mitchell was accused of stealing about $100 worth of supplies Sept. 12, 2014, from Party Place, 150 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft: A woman and her mother discovered $750 missing from their Forest Park Drive home.

Theft by deception: Jamar L. Williams, 26, of Alburn Drive, Boardman, faced a misdemeanor theft-by-deception charge related to a Dec. 11 situation in which a worker for Advance America, 5963 South Ave., alleged Williams had used such means to obtain a $500 loan.

Assault: Sarenda Whitted, 28, of East Judson Avenue, Youngstown, faced a felony assault charge regarding a Dec. 10 incident at a South Avenue group home in which Whitted, a caregiver, was accused of striking a patient in the back, causing him to fall to his knees.

Theft: Two women reportedly stole a $10 pair of blue jeans from Buckle in Southern Park Mall.
