Youngstown police dog aids in drug arrests

YOUNGSTOWN

A police officer and his canine found six bags of suspected marijuana, three bags of suspected cocaine and three bags of suspected heroin after a traffic stop about 12:41 p.m. Wednesday at the Albert Street exit on the Himrod Avenue Expressway.

Reports said officer Josh Kelly and his dog, Helo, were on patrol and pulled over for speeding a car with four people inside.

Reports said one of the passengers, Antwan Teemer 28, of Youngstown, was seen moving around in the car as though he was trying to hide something.

Reports said Kelly and Patrolman Jeffrey Roberts searched the car and found a pouch that had the suspected drugs inside.

Because the bag was where Teemer was sitting, he was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine, possession of heroin and possession of marijuana and taken to the Mahoning County jail.

The driver, whose name was not available, was cited for driving under suspension. The other two passengers were not charged.
