Southwest Ohio jail to be subject of upcoming reality show
CINCINNATI (AP) — An Ohio jail is set to be featured in an upcoming reality television show, and some local officials are wary of the attention it may bring.
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports the Hamilton County jail is the star of the latest installment of MSNBC’s “Lockup,” which films inside jails around the world.
A spokesman for Sheriff Jim Neil says the sheriff didn’t seek out the show, but thought it would be a good opportunity to share what goes on inside the jail.
County commissioners and other officials last year warned against the filming, saying the show could damage the county’s image or create safety and liability risks.
A preview for the show, which airs Saturday night, includes the aftermath of a bloody fight, hidden contraband tobacco and inmates shouting obscenities.
