Selma Memorial March will be 3 p.m. March 1 at Tyler History Center

Mahoning Valley Sojourn to the Past will present a Selma Memorial March at 3 p.m. March 1 at Tyler Historical Center, 325 W. Federal St., downtown Youngstown.

Sojourn to the Past students will first present a brief program on the history of Selma, Ala., and the grass-roots effort of the local people to secure the right to vote 50 years ago inside the center.

Participants will then walk silently, two by two, across the Mahoning River over the Spring Common bridge, better known as the Peanut bridge, ending at the B&O Station on Mahoning Avenue.

Sponsors of the event are Mahoning Valley Sojourn to the Past, Mahoning Valley Historical Society, the City of Youngstown and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Planning Committee
