A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:
HUBBARD
Feb. 19
Harassment: A Saul Drive woman said her former boyfriend made derogatory statements toward her via text messages.
Possible identity fraud: A Hubbard woman reported an Akron woman with the same name as the accuser’s mother may have stolen the mother’s identity regarding a vehicle.
Feb. 21
Trespassing: Police issued a criminal-trespassing warning to a Hubbard man, 19, after a School Street man told officers the teen had confronted him about the welfare of the accuser’s dogs while on the property without permission.
Feb. 22
Menacing: Officers charged 29-year-old Andrew T. Silsbe of North Main Street, Hubbard, with menacing and telephone harassment after a West Liberty Street man alleged Silsbe had sent him a text message implying the accuser would be harmed. The two men have ongoing problems between them, a report said.
Feb. 23
Possible theft: A South Main Street woman alleged a man stole her income-tax refund money and used her credit cards without permission.
Feb. 24
Drugs: Authorities responded to a possible heroin overdose at a Waugh Drive residence, where they reportedly seized a used spoon, a syringe and an eyedropper bottle covered in duct tape. A resident was taken at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
LIBERTY
Feb. 18
Theft: Authorities responded to a possible shoplifting situation at Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, before taking Mariya Y. Brown, 31, into custody on an outstanding Geauga County warrant. Theft charges were pending against Brown, of Trumbull Court, Youngstown, as well as a 57-year-old Warren man.
Breaking and entering: Someone pried open an apartment door in the 10 block of Trumbull Court and took about $400 worth of medications.
Arrest: Hubbard Township police relinquished custody of Robert J. Brownlie of Addison Road, Masury, to township authorities. The 31-year-old man was wanted on a warrant charging passing bad checks.
Theft: A Monticello Boulevard woman reported a FedEx package containing a cellphone and a related item likely had been stolen from her apartment building.
Theft: Officers answered a theft call at Walmart, where they arrested Shirley J. Thornsberry, 20, of Market Street, Youngstown, on a Warren warrant. Theft charges were pending against Thornsberry and another woman.
Feb. 19
Arrest: Police were dispatched to the Mahoning County jail to pick up 36-year-old Joseph R. Bradford of Main Street, Salem, who was wanted on a township warrant.
Harassment: An East Montrose Avenue man said his former girlfriend has sent him several text messages implying he would be harmed.
Criminal mischief: A woman in the 1700 block of Church Hill Road discovered someone had spray-painted explicit comments on her home’s rear windows as well as on her two cars.
Harassment: A Trumbull Court woman told police an 18-year-old Youngstown woman has been making and sending such calls and text messages to the accuser since last October.
Feb. 20
Arrest: Youngstown police in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue handed 30-year-old Joseph B. Harris to Liberty authorities. Harris, of Lora Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.
Arrest: Police near Colonial Drive pulled over and took into custody Andrea C. Davidson, 40, of Manchester Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on city warrants. Davidson also was cited on a littering charge after authorities alleged to have seen her toss a handful of trash from a vehicle window.
Feb. 22
Assault: A woman who was to meet a friend at a Belmont Avenue motel told authorities a Boardman woman struck the accuser’s face and head four or five times, resulting in a swollen right eye.
Arrest: A traffic stop in the 3400 block of Belmont Avenue resulted in the arrest of Jonathan D. Brown, 34, of South Street, Niles. He was wanted on a Howland Township warrant charging him with theft.
GIRARD
Feb. 19
Arrest: Police arrested William Anderson at his West Second Street home. The Girard man was wanted on a warrant charging domestic violence.
Burglary: Austintown police handed to Girard authorities 22-year-old Kasey L. Wright of Hopkins Road, Boardman, who was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant charging burglary.
Harassment: A North Ward Avenue woman said her sister with whom she’s had personal problems directed profane language at her in calls and text messages.
Feb. 20
Arrest: Authorities received information about a possible drunken driver near North Avenue, then charged 55-year-old Richard A. Grove with operating a vehicle impaired. Grove, of Dearborn Street, Youngstown, had a blood-alcohol count of 0.233, nearly three times the legal limit, a report showed.
Criminal mischief: Someone tossed eggs at a home in the 200 block of Pawnee Court. The yolk from one of the eggs froze to a window, causing an estimated $200 in damage.
Drugs: Officers answered a call regarding a possible drug overdose in the 1100 block of Washington Avenue. A man was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for treatment.
Theft/criminal damaging: A worker for a Church Hill Road discount store discovered a 12-inch subwoofer, an amplifier and other items missing from his vehicle, which also sustained a broken passenger-side window. The theft and damage came to $700.
Feb. 22
Arrest: Authorities responding to a report of an unwanted person charged Nicholas Dudley, 26, of Dearborn Avenue, Girard, with disorderly conduct after a man alleged Dudley had threatened to get another person to beat him up.
Arrest: Police responded to a possible fight between neighbors on South Davis Street before charging 42-year-old Richard Barta of South Davis, Girard, with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Barta, who also was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant, became combative with officers and refused to cooperate, they said.
Feb. 23
Breaking and entering: Someone pried open a door and broke into a cabin at Liberty Township Park off Belmont Avenue.
