Ohio workers' comp board approves rate cut for private employers

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation board signed off today on a 10.8 percent rate cut for private employers.

The change will take effect in July and is expected to save employers about $153 million in premium costs annually, according to the agency.

The reduction was proposed in late January, but the BWC board had to adopt the change to make it official.

BWC attributed the rate cut to lower claims and a revamped billing system.
