Lawrence Co. Women’s Conference will feature variety of speakers

NEW WILMINGTON, PA.

The eighth annual Lawrence County Women’s Conference will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 7 at McKelvey Campus Center of Westminster College, 319 S. Market St.

The event is a women’s initiative organized through the United Way of Lawrence County.

Speakers will be local authors Dr. Juliann Mangino and Barb Allen. Mangino will present “Can We Really Instill Positive Character Traits in the Next Generation? Yes, We Can!” She has written numerous books about parenting, such as “ABCs for Mommy” and “ABCs for Daddy.”

Allen will speak about her book, “ADHD Times Two.” The mother of three boys, two of whom were diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, sought alternative options to treating it rather than the usual prescribed medications.

Other highlights planned:

Mira Thompson, woman representative of the Democratic Party of Lawrence County, will talk about women in politics.

Michele Goodman-Jones of PA Workwear and Michele Goodman Studios will tailor her topic to business etiquette.

Atty. LeeAnn Fulena will explain estate planning documents.

Melissa Lescinsky of First Commonwealth Bank will share how to protect your identity and assets.

A four-woman panel moderated by Carrie Goff, PNC Wealth Management, will take place during lunch. The topic will be “Volunteerism, From Start to Finish.” The panel will be made up of a diverse age group consisting of Ginny Jacob of the county tourist promotion agency; Jenny Bollinger of First Baptist Church; Sue McLaughlin, educational consultant; and Ruth Ray, community volunteer.
