Canfield swim teams defeat Kent Roosevelt and Massillon Washington

Neighbors | Submitted.The Canfield Swim and Dive Team competed in sectionals on Feb. 13-14. Canfield Boys won the Division 2 Akron Sectional. Swimming for the girls included: Sarah Heaven, Theresa Mikolay, Maggie Beistel, Zoe DiDomenico, Morgan Weiss, Carlie Oddo, Rachel Williams, Lauren Grimm, Marissa Marzano, Allie McCartney, Maggie Brucoli and Maddie Remby. Boys Swimmers included: Connor Brady, Kyle Anderson, Matt Bogen, Alec Gaetano, Ben Brucoli, Jared Rothbauer, Lake Bennett, Kamran Sarak and Cullen Brady.

Canfield girls varsity swim team defeated Kent Roosevelt and Massillon Washington on Dec. 30. The Canfield girls scored 137 points, while Kent Roosevelt scored 101 points and Massillon Washington scored 70 points.

Top placers for the Canfield girls included Sarah Heaven (first place in the 200 medley relay, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 200 free relay), Theresa Mikolay (first place in the 200 medley relay, 200 individual medley, 200 free relay and 100 breaststroke), Rachel Williams (first place in the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle and 200 free relay), Maggie Beistel (first place in the 200 medley relay, 100 butterfly and 200 free relay; second place in the 200 backstroke), Morgan Weiss (first place in the 400 free relay; second place in the 100 freestyle; third place in the 200 free relay), Zoe DiDomenico (first place in the 400 free relay; third place in the 500 freestyle), Lauren Grimm (third place in the 200 and 400 free relay events), Maddie Remby (third place in the 200 and 400 free relay events), Ally McCartney (first place in the 400 free relay; third place in the 200 free relay), Marissa Marzano (first place in the 400 free relay), Carlie Oddo (third place in the 400 free relay) and Maggie Brucoli (third place in the 400 free relay).

The Canfield boys varsity swim team also defeated Kent Roosevelt and Massillon Washington. Canfield boys scored 155 points, while Kent Roosevelt scored 92 points and Massillon Washington scored 46 points.
