CAMPBELL

Artists have marked their calendars for an abandoned building’s photo shoot.

Photographers and videographers will gather at the historical City Savings and Loan Bank building on Wilson Avenue at 2 p.m. Sunday.

They will capture the building in its current condition before restoration efforts begin. The nearly 100-year-old building was donated to local nonprofit Iron Soup Historical Preservation Co., which will renovate the building into community gathering space for fundraising activities in the company’s preservations projects.

“Cities across the U.S. are learning to embrace their historical landmarks to promote economic development in their respective regions,” said Linda Gens, the nonprofit’s executive director.

The building housed as one of the first banks in Campbell serving mostly the steelmaking community.

The building will be operational by May 1, the nonprofit’s officials said.
