Ray Beiersdorfer, a geology professor at Youngstown State University, will give a lecture on fracking-induced seismic events in eastern Ohio at 11 a.m. Friday at the university’s Moser Hall, Room 1080.

Chamber luncheon set for March 19

Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber’s 2015 annual meeting and luncheon will take place at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center, 7440 South Ave., at 11:15 a.m. March 19.

The luncheon is to celebrate recent successes with an outlook for the year ahead. Award recipients include Atty. Alan D. Wenger of Harrington, Hoppe and Mitchell law firm, state Rep. Sean O’Brien of Bazetta, D-63rd, and Bo Pelini, head football coach of Youngstown State University.

PUCO approves AEP Ohio plan

COLUMBUS

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio modified and approved an electric security plan for AEP Ohio that will determine its standard service offer rates from June 1 through May 31, 2018.

In reaching its decision, PUCO declined to adopt the AEP’s proposed purchase power agreement as it relates to the company’s interests in the Ohio Valley Electric Corp. PUCO was not persuaded by AEP that the proposal would benefit ratepayers.

Pa. gaming board OKs agreements

HARRISBURG, PA.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board approved five consent agreements involving three casinos with fines totaling $77,500.

The consent-agreement approvals were between the board’s Office of Enforcement Counsel and the various casino operators: Downs Racing of Mohegan Sun Pocono in Luzerne County, Holdings Acquisition Co. of the Rivers Casino in Allegheny County, and Washington Trotting Association of the Meadows Casino in Washington County.

Deadline to pay ’14 taxes that are due

WASHINGTON

Farmers and fishermen who chose to forgo making quarterly estimated tax payments for 2014 generally must file their 2014 federal return and pay any tax due by Monday.
