Boardman police arrest man for Fla. crime

BOARDMAN — Township police arrested a Girard man on a warrant out of the state of Florida.

Michael Mauro, 25, faces a third-degree felony charge of grand theft in that state.

A police report alleges that in January 2014 Mauro took the key to a relative’s storage unit in Broward County, Fla., and took items out of the unit. Mauro then reportedly tried to sell some of the items, including jewelry and pills.

According to a police report, Mauro is originally from Florida.

Boardman police detained Mauro outside of a business on U.S. Route 224 after they stopped to talk to him because he was sitting with his legs extended into the busy road. He is in the Mahoning County Jail.
