“Jonathan Frisby and the Rats of NIMH,SDRq written and directed by James Canacci, Youngstown Playhouse Youth Theatre, Youngstown Playhouse, 600 Playhouse Lane, auditions at 6 p.m. today. The show is a prequel to Robert O’Brien’s 1971 children’s book “The Secret of NIMH” and follows the rats, Jonathan and Mr. Ages from the testing lab at NIMH to the Fitzgibbon’s farm as they try to build a society of their own. Auditionees will read from the script and also should bring a current photograph. The directors are seeking 20 to 25 performers, age 7 to adult. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. April 17 and 18 and at 2:30 p.m. April 19, with a performance for area school students at 10 a.m. April 16. “The Velveteen Rabbit,SDRq directed by Molly Galano and Jess Morgan, Youngstown Playhouse Youth Theatre, Youngstown Playhouse, 600 Playhouse Lane, auditions from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Based on the book by Margery Williams. Those interested in auditioning will be asked to read from the script and also should bring a current photograph. The directors are seeking 20 to 25 performers, age 7 to adult. “The Velveteen Rabbit” will be performed April 24-26 with school performances scheduled for April 23.
