Cruelty charges

CAMPBELL

Police charged Harry Bryan, 76, of 16th Street with animal cruelty. According to a police report, Bryan left his dog sitting outside on the side porch of his residence Monday. Police noticed the dog and attempted to contact the resident. Due to low temperatures and lack of visible water, the dog was handed over to humane agents. Bryan was issued a summons to appear in municipal court Friday.

Accused of robbery

BOARDMAN

A Youngstown man faces a first-degree felony charge of aggravated robbery after he was arrested on a warrant stemming from a bank robbery.

Police say that G. Shannon McColor, 26, of Woodcrest Avenue robbed a Huntington Bank branch at 3960 South Ave. on Jan. 9.

McColor reportedly gave a bank teller a note that said: “Give me $10,000 in cash in a bag” and then brandished a gun at her after she refused. He reportedly got away with $431 in cash. McColor is in the Mahoning County jail.

Drug possession

YOUNGSTOWN

Police charged a woman with possession of marijuana as she was dropping off her children at a home in the 2700 block of Hammaker Avenue about 11:50 p.m. Monday.

Reports said officers noticed an empty car in the middle of the street against the flow of traffic and were told that the driver, Ila Latoya Harris, 27, of Hammaker Avenue, was dropping her children off at a home. When she came back to her car, she apologized but officers told her she could not park illegally. They also discovered a small bag of suspected marijuana on the dashboard.

YOUNGSTOWN

Police are looking for a slender black man in his early 20s who robbed Chase Bank, 2900 Market St., about 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The Youngstown office of the FBI said the man showed employees a gun he had in a holster at his waist, but he never pointed it at anyone.

The man got away with an undisclosed amount of money and ran toward East Philadelphia Avenue. Police from the city and Boardman could not find him.

The suspect is described as being between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall. Anyone with information can call city police at 330-742-8900 or the FBI at 330-965-2940.

Crash after chase

AUSTINTOWN

A car struck another vehicle in Schwebel’s parking lot in the township. Austintown authorities were pursuing a car at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday when they called it off after the vehicle sped up, according to the Vindicator’s broadcast partner, 21-WFMJ News. However, shortly after calling off the chase the car lost control and struck a vehicle in the parking lot of Schwebel’s, 3800 Mahoning Ave.

There was no information on the chase or why authorities were pursuing the vehicle late Tuesday night.
