2 arrested inside home of nursing home patient

YOUNGSTOWN — Two men were arrested about 12:40 a.m. today inside the home of a person who is in a nursing home in the first block of Ellenwood Avenue.

Police found footprints in the snow leading to the house and a broken front window, reports said. Police said a man later identified as Tony Cheirs, 51, came out of the house. He was placed in the back of a cruiser and another man, Jeffrey Shorter, 46, was arrested inside.

Both men were charged with burglary and taken to the Mahoning County jail.
