Warren cops investigate 3rd rape allegation in 10 days

WARREN — For the third time in 10 days, police have been asked to investigate a rape allegation.

On Monday evening, police were called to Waverly Avenue Northeast at Washington Street for a 47-year-old woman who said she had been raped by her boyfriend of one year, though she refused to give his name.

The woman said she had been at a residence on Washington Street with a woman and the man, and they had been drinking since that morning.

She said he raped her at a house on Olive Street. She refused to go to the hospital to allow medical personnel to collect evidence, however.

Police also received a rape report Feb. 12 involving a 33-year-old Pittsburgh woman at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital who said she met two individuals in Warren who drugged her and raped her on Robert Avenue Northwest.

On Feb. 15, police were advised that a 9-year-old Belvedere Avenue Southeast girl may have been raped by a family member. The girl was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital in Boardman.

Warren averages about 35 rape complaints per year, police said.
