Save our Church meeting is Wednesday in Campbell

CAMPBELL — The Committee to Save St. Lucy Church will conduct an open forum at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Hall, 401 12th St., to discuss the recent action to make the church an occasional worship site.

St. Lucy is part of Christ, the Good Shepherd Parish that also includes St. Rosa de Lima Church at the St. Lucy site, St. John the Baptist and St. Joseph the Provider.

The committee sent a letter to Bishop George V. Murry of the Diocese of Youngstown protesting the action. The committee is taking steps to challenge the bishop’s decision that was implemented through the pastor of Christ, the Good Shepherd Parish.

The committee has retained the services of a canonical adviser, Peter Borre, who has represented more than 100 parish groups over recent years in 35 dioceses including Youngstown and Cleveland.
