YNDC offers help to small businesses

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. will offer small-business development classes and equipment loans this year.

Participants will leave class with a business plan outline and have resources available to refine the plan.

Financial and credit counseling are also available.

The free classes will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. starting the week of March 17 and ending the week of April 28.

Class will be conducted at the Iron Roots Urban Farm, 822 Billingsgate Ave. on the South Side.

YNDC also has loan funds available from $1,000 to $10,000 for startup or current businesses with five or fewer full-time employees.

CPA will discuss Obamacare at event

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have an “In Depth with John Donchess, CPA” event from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. March 5 at ITT Technical Institute, 1030 N. Meridian Road.

Donchess, a principal and tax director at Packer Thomas in Canfield, will explain who is subject to the individual shared responsibility payment under the Affordable Care Act, how it works and the impact it will have on filing a 2014 federal tax return. He will also identify other Obamacare tax provisions that have recently become effective and how they may impact individuals.

Marketing business on a limited budget

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA.

A shoestring marketing event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 24 at Cranberry Highlands Golf Course.

The event will cover how to effectively market a business on a limited budget. Topics include developing an effective media strategy, finding contacts and building a media list.

A panel discussion will take place with guests from Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Indiana, Lawrence and Mercer counties.

A $10 fee, which includes lunch, will be charged to members of the participating agencies, and $15 will be charged to nonmembers.

Yuengling’s offers 4 new flavors

ORWIGSBURG, PA.

Yuengling’s Ice Cream, based in northeastern Pennsylvania, will have four new flavors hit the shelves as early as this week.

The flavors are Original Sea Salt Caramel Swirl, Caramel Popcorn, Orange Cream and Peanut Butter Cup.
