Kent State 64, Ohio 51

ATHENS

Devareaux Manley sank five 3-pointers and finished with 16 points to lead Kent State. Kris Brewer added 11 points as Kent State (19-8, 10-4 Mid-American) won its third straight to remain tied atop the conference standings with four games remaining. The Golden Flashes broke it open midway through the first half with a 13-2 run capped by 3-pointers from Manley and Derek Jackson to take a 36-25 advantage into the break. Early in the second, Ohio’s Maurice Daly Ndour sparked a 9-0 burst that cut the gap to 41-39 before Kent State pulled away with a 12-2 run and protected the double-figure lead the rest of the way. Ranked 12th in nation on 3-point defense, Kent State held Ohio to just 2 of 12 from long range. Antonio Campbell led the Bobcats (9-16, 4-10) with 14 points, Stevie Taylor added 13 and Ndour 12.

Miami (Ohio) 57, Akron 52, OT

AKRON

Eric Washington scored 21 points and Miami (Ohio) beat Akron. Will Sullivan made a 3-pointer to give the RedHawks a 51-50 lead in overtime and Washington made two free throws with 23 seconds left. Jake Kretzer scored for the Zips with eight seconds left before Washington and Chris Bryant sank two free throws apiece to secure the win. Washington made a pair of free throws with 15 seconds to go in regulation to tie the game at 48-all and send it into overtime. Sullivan finished with 11 points and Geovonie McKnight 10 for the RedHawks (11-16, 6-8 Mid-American Conference). Kwan Cheatham Jr. had 14 points and Noah Robotham added 10. Pat Forsythe grabbed 12 rebounds for the Zips (17-10, 8-6). Akron had a 46-33 rebounding edge but committed 20 turnovers to the RedHawks’ 10.

Toledo 97, W Michigan 87

KALAMAZOO, MICH.

Julius Brown had 19 points and six assists and all starters scored in double figures to lead Toledo. J.D. Weatherspoon scored 17 points and grabbed five rebounds, Justin Drummond had 16, six boards and four assists, Nathan Boothe added 15 points and five and Jonathan Williams pitched in 12 for the Rockets (18-9, 10-4 Mid-American). Toledo shot 60 percent from the field. Thomas Wilder finished with a career-high 34 points on 10-of-12 shooting and David Brown hit five 3s as a part of his 29 points for Western Michigan (16-11, 7-7). Wilder’s previous career-high was 16.

Buffalo 68, Bowling Green 56

BOWLING GREEN

Shannon Evans had 19 points, which included hitting 5 of 6 3s to lead Buffalo. Jarryn Skeete and Justin Moss scored 15 apiece, and Moss added 12 rebounds for the Bulls (17-9, 8-6 Mid-American), who shot 52.9 percent from 3-point range. Richaun Holmes had 15 points and seven rebounds, Jehvon Clarke finished with 12 and eight and Spencer Parker added 11 points for the Falcons (17-8, 9-5). Down 16 in the second half, Bowling Green mounted a 16-4 run, where Clarke tallied nine of his 12 points to take a one-point lead with 7:15 left.

BIG TEN CONFERENCE

Northwestern 60, Penn State 39

EVANSTON, ILL.

Vic Law scored 17 points, Tre Demps added 16 and Northwestern beat Penn State. Alex Olah added 10 points for the Wildcats (13-14, 4-10 Big Ten), who have won three straight after snapping a 10-game losing streak. Geno Thorpe scored 13 points for Penn State, which scored a season-low point total and shot a season-low 27 percent. The Nittany Lions have lost four straight and six of seven. Penn State’s DJ Newbill, the Big Ten’s leading scorer at 21.1 points per game, finished with three points on 1-for-6 shooting and nine rebounds.

ATLANTIC COAST CONFERENCE

Pittsburgh 65, Syracuse 61

SYRACUSE, N.Y.

Chris Jones tied his career high with 19 points, Jamel Artis had 16, and Michael Young chipped in 14 as Pittsburgh held off Syracuse. Syracuse, which trailed by 11 points twice in the second half, closed to 61-60 on a 3-pointer by BJ Johnson but two foul shots by James Robinson helped keep the Orange at bay. Rakeem Christmas had 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Orange (17-10, 8-6 Atlantic Coast Conference). It was his 10th double-double of the season. Jones hit 11 straight points to spark Pittsburgh (18-10, 7-7) to a 31-25 halftime lead.
