Ohio native killed in 9/11 attacks honored in peace exhibit

An Ohio native killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks is being honored in western Ohio with an exhibit that uses quilts to promote peace.

The exhibit on display at Urbana University through Feb. 28 is on loan from the Dayton International Peace Museum. The Alicia Titus Memorial Peace Fund is sponsoring the exhibit at Urbana’s Swedenborg Memorial Library to honor Titus’ memory. The 28-year-old flight attendant who grew up in Champaign County died aboard United Airlines Flight 175 on 9/11.

Visitors walk through a labyrinth of 17 quilts illustrating different religions and their versions of the idea that people should treat others the way they would like to be treated.

Minnesota artist Janet Bear McTavish created the exhibit that she donated to the Dayton museum.
