Childers-Byers wedding date to be May 30

Linda and Robert C. Byers Jr. of Girard are announcing the engagement of their son, Robert C. Byers III, to Casey Childers, both of Columbia, S.C.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Daphne Childers of Hickory, N.C., and Rick Childers of Taylorsville, N.C.

The couple plan to wed during a beach-side ceremony at 5 p.m. May 30 at Folly Beach, with a reception follow at James Island, both in Charleston, S.C. A local reception to be hosted by the groom’s parents is planned for July at Squaw Creek Country Club in Vienna. Invitations will be issued for the events.

The future bride earned a bachelor’s degree from Applachian State University in communication and journalism and a master’s degree in mass communication and journalism at the University of Georgia. She is a doctoral candidate and research assistant in Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina in Columbia.

Mr. Byers received a bachelor’s degree in management from St. Vincent College. He is an outside-sales representative for Tucker Materials, also in Columbia.
