Honda production affected by dispute

COLUMBUS

Honda says it will resume normal production temporarily at its Ohio plants after six days of shift reductions related to a West Coast port contract dispute.

The automaker announced Thursday that though it’s still experiencing parts shortages at some plants, it has enough parts to operate normally in Ohio.

The company says normal Ohio production will begin Tuesday and go until March 2, when production cuts could be possible.

Negotiators agreed Friday to a tentative contract covering the West Coast dockworkers, likely ending the protracted labor dispute that has snarled international trade at seaports handling about $1 trillion worth of cargo annually.

Honda employs more than 14,000 workers at plants across Ohio.
