African-Americans in film lecture

YOUNGSTOWN

Traci Easley Williams will give a free lecture on “Defining the Image of the African-American in Film and Television” at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., downtown.

Williams is an associate lecturer in the department of pan-African studies and school of journalism and mass communication at Kent State University. Her lecture will touch on whether negative portrayals of African- Americans in Hollywood have changed.

Organists guild to present concert

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown chapter of the American Guild of Organists will present a free concert of student organists and pianists at 7 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, 201 Wick Ave. The concert is open to the public.

Mohawk band at Disney World

BESSEMER, PA.

Members of the Mohawk Area High School Marching Band performed at the Magic Kingdom and Waterside Stage at Disney World in Orlando, Fla., on Feb. 15.

The band, under the direction of Ashley Graziani, entertained hundreds of park guests as they marched through Frontierland and around Cinderella Castle and onto Main Street, U.S.A before the Festival of Fantasy Parade. The group’s performance included “Funkytown” by Lipps Inc.

The school choir, also under the direction of Graziani, put on a show that included “The Star Spangled Banner” and “God Bless America.”

This was the group’s first visit to the resort.
