South Range Board of Education member Bruce Zinz’s resignation was accepted by the board this week.
South Range schools Superintendent Dennis Dunham said the board accepted it “with regret” after Monday night’s executive session that followed a monthly board meeting.
“He’s a parent, a businessman. As a board member there’s a lot of time restraints,” Dunham said. “Mr. Zinz is a good man and very supportive of the district, but for personal reasons, he’s not able to fulfill the time responsibility as a board member.”
Dunham said by law the board must wait 10 days. He said a news release set for next week will say that the board is accepting applications for the vacancy. Zinz started as a board member this January.
The replacement would fill Zinz’s vacancy and run for the remainder of his term in the November election, which would be for three years.
“That’s definitely our goal, that we have someone to sit in that chair March 16,” at our next board meeting, Dunham said.
