The Poland library location of Kravitz Deli celebrated its first day open after being closed for a three week renovation Feb. 11.

Improvements made to the location include new eat-in and catering menus, new paint, signs, a pastry case, tables and chairs, and brand new floors and carpeting throughout. Along with these renovations, Kravitz is also trying out table service.

Jack Kravitz, owner of both the Kravitz Deli location in Liberty and Poland, was on hand to help smooth the transition to being open for business once more. He spoke about his excitement at being open in the library once more.

“It has been a fun day. It was a little hectic because of the new menu items and the new set up in the back room, but otherwise it has been great,” he said.

New menu items offered include a chicken tender schnitzel with dipping sauces, including sweet Sriracha and buffalo sauces, an Angus burger, salads, club sandwich and BLT. The location will also offer five different soups each day. Kravitz said he hopes to include several other new items, as well.

“We have things we are working on - dinners, such as chicken tenders, and, as always, our fish fry. We also are going to attempt to make homemade pierogi in such flavors as kraut, sweet potato, mushroom and potato cheddar,” Kravitz said.

Vegan and vegetarian options are also available on the new menu. Some of the menu items offered that cater to these groups include hand-cut fair fries (vegetarian), hand-breaded onion rings (vegetarian), Israeli Salad (vegetarian), Spanikopita (vegan), hummus (vegetarian), potato pancakes (vegan) and more.

A catering menu is also available.

“We are the only caterer authorized to go into all the library branches when they are closed. If you want to have an event when the library is closed, we are now able to offer that. Say you want to have a bridal or baby shower on a Sunday, we can do that,” Kravitz said.

Upcoming events for the deli include a pre-Passover Seder with Stambaugh Auditorium. The event will feature an authentic Passover dinner.
