Def Leppard ticket sales start strong

YOUNGSTOWN

Tickets sold briskly Friday morning for the July 15 Def Leppard concert at Covelli Centre.

There was an initial rush when sales began at 10 a.m. before the frenzy tapered off. As of 5 p.m., most of the floor tickets were sold, but many remained available in the bowl section.

Roughly 6,000 seats are available for the concert by the long-lived British pop-metal band, which also includes opening act Tesla.

Sales are handled by Ticketmaster, and most are done by Internet and telephone, but about two dozen people waited in the arctic cold Friday morning for the box office to open, said Kelsey Rupert, marketing director for the arena.
