BREAKING NEWS | Traficant documentary film set for showing March 21 in Cleveland
YOUNGSTOWN — “Traficant: The Congressman of Crimetown,” a 90-minute documentary on former U.S. Rep. James A. Traficant Jr., will premiere at the Cleveland International Film Festival next month.
The first screening is 6:20 p.m. March 21 at the Akron Art Museum, 1 S. High St. in that city. It will then be shown at 4 p.m. March 22 and at 11:55 a.m. March 23 at the festival’s main location, Tower City Cinemas, 230 W. Huron Road in Cleveland.
Eric Murphy — the film’s director, producer, writer and editor — has worked on the documentary since 2009.
Murphy said he is putting the “finishing touches” on the film — including adding some music, graphics, sound mixing and the end credits — and it will be done in two weeks.
The film features interviews with several prominent locals who knew Traficant including Ed O’Neill, Ray Mancini and Jim Tressel, and tells the story of the controversial politician’s life. Traficant died in September 2014 as the result of a tractor accident.
