Arraignment today for man who caused West Side panic

YOUNGSTOWN — A man who police said threatened to shoot up a post office and officers pleaded not guilty today to a misdemeanor charge of inducing panic in municipal court.

Judge Elizabeth Kobly set the bond for James Gartlic, 38, of North Hazelwood Avenue, at $10,000.

Police were called to his home about 11 a.m. Wednesday after receiving reports of the threats. Gartlic surrendered peacefully shortly after officers arrived.

Reports said officers took four rifles and a revolver out of the home.
