CAMPBELL

Kevonte Jordan, 20, of Campbell will appear in court Friday on two misdemeanor charges for theft.

Police arrested Jordan Tuesday afternoon after investigating two incidents of stealing video-game consoles.

On New Year’s Eve, a victim stated to police that he had arranged for the sale of his Playstation 4 gaming console through the Craigslist website. Jordan purportedly invited the victim to conduct the transaction at 66 Regent St., where he did not live.

Police said Jordan came out from behind the residence, and identified himself as “Shawn” to the victim, grabbed the console and fled. The victim had pursued him, but lost sight of him in the rear yards.

A similar incident occured Jan. 9 at the same home in which Jordan purportedly stole an Xbox gaming console from another victim.

Campbell police Sgt. Kevin Sferra said he issued a subpoena for the phone records of the numbers used in both transactions by the suspect, which revealed that he used a smartphone app that allows the user to create temporary phone numbers. Sferra said he issued two more subpoenas to get Jordan’s name. During the arrest, Jordan’s smartphone was confiscated as evidence.

One of the victims identified the suspect, he added.

Jordan was released on a $500 bond, according to court records.
