Pleads guilty

YOUNGSTOWN

A 20-year-old Boardman man pleaded guilty Wednesday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court to charges of robbery and failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer in the December 2013 robbery of a Boardman pizza shop and chase.

Matthew Koziorynsky of Cook Avenue will be sentenced later by Judge Maureen Sweeney. He pleaded guilty to the Dec. 3, 2013, robbery of Marco’s Pizza on Midlothian Boulevard.

Reports said an officer responded to the robbery call and saw Koziorynsky driving away and tried to pull him over. He did not stop, however, and led police on a chase until he crashed into a utility pole on Market Street in Boardman.

Crash victims ID’d

EAST LIVERPOOL

The victims killed in an accident on U.S. Route 30 in Liverpool Township Tuesday have been identified as Leanne Nicholson, 46, of Martins Ferry, and Carole Cika, 31, of Yorkville.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol Lisbon Post reported that a van was traveling south on U.S. Route 30 near state Route 170 when it went off the road, struck a tree and caught fire about 8:25 a.m. Tuesday. Nicholson was driving the vehicle, and Cika was a front-seat passenger, the patrol said.

Arrested at office

YOUNGSTOWN

Police arrested a man at a 3100 Market St. doctor’s office Tuesday who witnesses said became angry when he was told he could not see the doctor.

Police were called to the office about 12:50 p.m. and when they arrived, were told by staff that Andre Edwards, 37, of Youngstown, tried to climb through the window of the receptionists’s desk — after he was told to come back and see the doctor when he was sober.

Reports said his speech was slurred, and he was told if he did not calm down, an electronic stun weapon would be used on him and he would be arrested as a John Doe.

Edwards then allowed himself to be handcuffed, reports said. There were other patients in the office at the time.

Edwards was taken to the Mahoning County jail on charges of disorderly conduct and obstructing official business.
