CBS wins week in ratings despite ‘SNL’

NEW YORK

Television viewers were clearly curious about the anniversary party that “Saturday Night Live” threw for itself Sunday, with more than 23 million viewers tuning in.

The Nielsen company said it was the highest-rated entertainment telecast on NBC since an “ER” episode in 2004, excluding programs after the Super Bowl. But it wasn’t enough to make NBC the most-viewed network last week.

Here are the top 10 shows, their networks and viewerships for the week of Feb. 9-15: “Saturday Night Live: 40th Anniversary,” NBC, 23.14 million; “NCIS,” CBS, 18.77 million; “NCIS: New Orleans,” CBS, 16.19 million; “The Walking Dead,” AMC, 12.27 million; “Empire,” Fox, 11.96 million; “Scorpion,” CBS, 11.86 million; “Blue Bloods,” CBS, 11.46 million; “The Big Bang Theory,” CBS, 11.35 million; “SNL: 40th, Red Carpet,” NBC, 11.32 million; “American Idol” (Wednesday), Fox, 10.66 million.

Vanilla Ice charged with burglary in Fla.

LANTANA, Fla.

Vanilla Ice has been charged with breaking into and stealing from an abandoned home that is in foreclosure in Florida.

Police in the Palm Beach County town of Lantana say the recording artist and home-improvement-show host had been renovating a home next to the victim’s house. They said in a news release that some of the items were found at his property.

Vanilla Ice, whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, rose to fame after the 1990 release of the hit song “Ice Ice Baby.” He has hosted “The Vanilla Ice Project” on DIY Network.

The 47-year-old Van Winkle was charged Wednesday with burglary of residence and grand theft and taken into custody. Authorities say furniture, a pool heater, bicycles and other items were removed from the home sometime during December and February.

2 Minaj tour members are stabbed; 1 dead

PHILADELPHIA

A stabbing outside a bar early Wednesday left one member of Nicki Minaj’s tour dead and another in critical condition, the singer and authorities said.

The two tour members had flown into Philadelphia for rehearsals two days earlier, Minaj wrote on Twitter.

Philadelphia police said two men, ages 29 and 26, were stabbed Wednesday outside a bar. They said the elder man suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at a hospital. The younger victim was stabbed in the left side and arm and was in critical condition, police said.

Police said the fight began when a man started arguing with the victims in the bar about 2 a.m. and pulled a knife once they got outside.
