Art event inspired by Dadaism movement

Staff report

WARREN

Artisan Cafe, 410 S. Main St., will host an art event inspired by Dadaism this Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m.

Fifteen local artists will create a fusion of multimedia, video, print, readings, collaborative performance and interactive pieces inspired by the Dadaism movement of the early 20th century. Dadaism was based on deliberate irrationality and negation of traditional artistic values.

Artists will showcase projects outside what is considered “safe” art and focus on thought-provoking, spontaneous, non-conformist works.

The funds raised from the show will promote future art events at the Artisan Building and in downtown Warren.

Exhibiting artists will include Adam Gregory, Amber Slick, Barry Burkey, Brian Starkey, Carl Henneman, David Wood, Dennis Kirsch, Deshawn Scott, Dominic Gatti, James Shuttic, Jim Fogarty, Joe Gergely, Julia Shuttic, Sarah Bakone and Lisa Zitello.

The show will be spread over two floors. Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the Artisan Cafe. The Warren Trolley will provide transportation from the Franklin Street parking deck.
