Walker faces 22-year sentence after pleading to 2012 murder
YOUNGSTOWN — Prosecutors are recommending a sentence of 22 years in prison for a man who pleaded guilty to a shooting in 2012 that killed one man and wounded another.
Walter Walker, 33, of East Lucius Avenue, pleaded guilty today in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court to charges of involuntary manslaughter, aggravated robbery and attempted murder with firearm specifications for the March 10, 2012, shooting of 34-year-old Damon Hodges and wounding of Dustin Greenwalt, who was 25 at the time, inside a home on North Lane Avenue on the East Side.
Assistant Prosecutor Rob Andrews told Judge Lou A. D’Apolito he is recommending a sentence of 22 years. A charge of aggravated murder was amended to involuntary manslaughter and a charge of felonious assault was dropped as part of the plea.
