YOUNGSTOWN
A man on the West Side who was said to have a high powered rifle and threatened to shoot police or others was safely taken out of his house.
Police were called to a home in the first block of North Hazelwood Avenue just after 11 a.m. by a third party, who said the man had threatened to go to a post office and shoot other people and that he would also shoot police.
Officers blocked off several streets around the home and set up a perimeter, but the man gave himself up about 11:30 a.m. Police also found a number of high powered weapons in the home. The city’s crime lab was called to check and take the weapons.
