City man charged in early morning shooting incident

YOUNGSTOWN — Cheyne Kenny, 25, was charged with discharging firearms in city limits at about 1:30 a.m. today at a home in the 1300 block of Bennington Avenue after police were called for a report of shots fired inside a home.

Reports said Kenny told police he heard gunfire from behind his home, so he went to his back door and fired two shots from his 9mm semiautomatic pistol.

Reports said Kenny was wearing a bulletproof vest when police arrived.
