Hearing continued

A preliminary hearing scheduled for Tuesday in Mahoning County Area Court here for a Louisiana man charged with inducing panic and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit has been continued to a date that has yet to be set.

Donald Pickney, 47, of Opelousas, La., pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor inducing- panic charge and felony weapon charge in December.

The charges stem from an incident Dec. 24 when Pickney reportedly pointed an air rifle out of his truck at the Shops at Boardman Park. The incident caused multiple people to call 911. Police later discovered that the gun was not real, but then found a loaded pistol in his vehicle.

Pickney is free on bond pending his next court appearance.
