Artists can rent tables at YWCA sale
YOUNGSTOWN
The YWCA of Youngstown will have an art sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 14 and 15 at the YWCA, 25 W. Rayen Ave.
Artists can reserve space to sell their artwork for $10 per table. The YWCA will retain a 20 percent commission on all art sales. All works must be priced at $100 or less, and does not need to be framed. Artists under 18 will need a parent or guardian to reserve the table.
The table reservation deadline is March 6. Call Rita at 330-746-6361, ext.102, for more information.
Historic items at Sutliff Museum
WARREN
Slave memorabilia and information on the Underground Railroad Association are on display at the Sutliff Museum through February. The display features two slave tags that were used along the coast of South Carolina from the 1700s through 1856, a collectible cigarette card from Helmar Turkish Cigarettes with a picture of John Brown’s family home in Glastonbury, Conn., and a reproduction engraving of the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.
Also featured in the display are books describing the life of slaves from different perspectives.
Admission is free. The museum is fully accessible and open to the public from 2 to 4 p.m. every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It is located on the second floor of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW.
New Yorker at 90
NEW YORK
The New Yorker is celebrating its 90th anniversary with a special double issue featuring nine covers.
The magazine’s famous Eustace Tilley character of a gentleman with a top hat and monocle appears in various depictions on each of the covers. The special issue came out Monday.
The first issue appeared in February 1925.
