Guilty plea in fatal shooting of 3 at northern Ohio bar

FREMONT, Ohio (AP) — A man in northern Ohio has pleaded guilty in the shooting deaths of an off-duty police officer and two others at a bar nearly a year ago.

A judge today sentenced Igmidio Mista to life in prison after the plea deal in a Fremont courtroom.

Mista pleaded guilty to murder and attempted murder on the day his trial had been scheduled to begin. His defense attorney declined to comment.

The shooting last March at the Last Call Bar in Fremont left the off-duty police officer dead, along with one of his relatives and a bartender.

Investigators and family members of the victims say a fight broke out in the bar just before the shooting.

Victims included 26-year-old Elmore police Officer Jose Andy Chavez.
