Facing drug charges
YOUNGSTOWN
An East Palestine man was jailed after officers found two bags of suspected heroin on him during a traffic stop Sunday afternoon on the North Side.
Officers spotted a truck driven by Robert Porada, 39, of Carbon Hill Road about 2:45 p.m. leaving a Foster Street house with the rear license plate obscured by snow. They pulled the car over at Foster and Fairgreen Avenue.
Reports said Porada kept moving toward his right side, so officers asked him to get out so he could be searched for weapons. Porada said he had a spoon, and two bags of suspected heroin and a syringe were found in his pants pocket. Another syringe was found on the truck’s floor.
Porada was taken to the Mahoning County jail on charges of possession of heroin, possession of drug-abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Taken into custody
YOUNGSTOWN
A man wanted on warrants for domestic violence and nonpayment of child support from Lucas County was taken into custody about 11:05 a.m. Saturday.
Reports did not list an address but said officers formed a perimeter around a city home looking for James Cunningham, 50, who was thought to have weapons.
A woman pulled up who said she has been with Cunningham for 19 years and has two children with him, and he had threatened her and her boss earlier in the day. He was placed into custody without incident and given an additional charge of domestic violence.
