Twirling Innovation members compete at regional event

Katie Brown, director of Twirling Innovation, reported that seven members of the Valley twirling team attended the Marching Auxiliaries Ohio Classic Regional Competition Feb. 7 at Westerville Central High School.

Participants were Adele Colonna of Canfield; Cassidy Oyler, Aimee Smith and Lindsay Smith of Springfield; and Jenna Benson, Anngel Benson and Jennel Benson of Youngstown.

Competing in the twirling ensemble division were Jenna Benson and Anngel Benson, who won the high school plus ensemble division, and Aimee Smith and Lindsay Smith placed second runner up in the 9-10th grade division. Both ensembles received a Superior I rating.

All five soloists received a Superior I rating. They were Jenna Benson, Anngel Benson, Cassidy Oyler, Adele Colonna and Jennel Benson.

Soloists earning placements were Jenna Benson, twirling solo — high school plus winner; Adele Colonna, twirling solo in first through third grades, fourth runner-up; and Jennel Benson, color guard solo in fourth through sixth grades, second runner-up.
