The Oscars are drawing near and the focus, as usual, is on the Best Picture race, although the other key categories also have some closely matched contenders. Here is a look at the winners of the Best Actor and Best Actress awards for the past five years, as supplied by the World Almanac:

v 2013: Matthew McConaughey, “Dallas Buyers Club”; Cate Blanchett, “Blue Jasmine”

v 2012: Daniel Day-Lewis, “Lincoln”; Jennifer Lawrence, “Silver Linings Playbook”

v 2011: Jean Dujardin, “The Artist”; Meryl Streep, “The Iron Lady”

v 2010: Colin Firth, “The King’s Speech”; Natalie Portman, “Black Swan”

v 2009: Jeff Bridges, “Crazy Heart”; Sandra Bullock, “The Blind Side”

“The Book of Negroes” (8 p.m., BET): This six-part historical drama tells the extraordinary story of Aminata Diallo (Aunjanue Ellis), an African woman who was sold into slavery, but never gave up the quest for freedom. Cuba Gooding Jr. and Louis Gossett Jr. also star.

“The Celebrity Apprentice” (8 p.m., NBC): Season 14’s winner is declared. The prize? Donald Trump’s hairpiece goes to a charity of his or her choice.

“Stevie Wonder: SONGS IN THE KEY OF LIFE — AN ALL-STAR GRAMMY SALUTE” (9 P.M., CBS): This special is exactly what its long-winded title suggests. Performers include Lady Gaga, John Legend, Ed Sheeran and Usher paying tribute to the legendary pop star.

“State of Affairs” (10 p.m., NBC): Season 1 (and, likely, the entire series) concludes.

“Independent Lens” (10 p.m., PBS): The lives of black families are revealed through 170 years of photographs in “Through a Lens Darkly: Black Photographers and the Emergence of a People.”
