The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have an “In Depth with Mark Richmond: HIPAA vs. Meaningful Use Standards” discussion from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Feb. 26 at the Residence Inn in Niles, 5555 Youngstown-Warren Road.

Richmond, president of Micro Doctor Inc., is a technology expert with more than 25 years of experience.

HBA to mark 70th anniversary

The Home Builders and Remodelers Association of the Valley recently had its annual presidential dinner at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman.

State Sen. Joe Schiavoni of Boardman, D-33rd, presented a proclamation to the HBA to honor its 70th anniversary.

Several members received awards at the event: Outstanding Community Service, Jeff Ohlinger of Carter Lumber, Brian Heckert of Boardman Lowe’s and Bill Clipse of Meander Homes; Chairperson of the Year, Karen Ament of Burgan Real Estate; Teri Storey Supplier of the Year, Rich Abel of Banner Supply; Frank Pasquale Associate of the Year, Richard Pavlock of Cortland Bank; and Andy Profanchik Builder of the Year, Sam Pitzulo of Sam Pitzulo Homes and Remodeling.

Free pancakes

International House of Pancake locations in Boardman and Warren will give out free short stacks of buttermilk pancakes to customers from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. March 3.

IHOP restaurants throughout the country are celebrating National Pancake Day by giving away pancakes. The hope is customers pay it forward by making a voluntary donation to the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Shriners Hospital for Children, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or other local charities.

The Boardman IHOP is at 833 Boardman-Poland Road, and the Warren restaurant is at 1980 Niles- Cortland Road SE.

Breakthrough technology

NILES

The Advanced Composites Group of Niles International will make two presentations at AeroDef/Composites Manufacturing 2015 on breakthrough technology for composite structures. The event, produced by The Society of Manufacturing Engineers, will be at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in downtown Dallas on April 20-23.

Darren Boyce, chief technology officer and inventor of the materials, will present two abstracts: composite-based heating systems for self-heated tooling and composite-based anti-icing and de-icing heating of forward facing surfaces.

Niles International is a privately owned expanded metal manufacturing conglomerate with its corporate headquarters in the city at 310 N. Pleasant Ave.
